Suspected armed bandits launched a devastating late-night assault on the Kasuwar Daji community located within the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the tragic death of six military personnel and the mass abduction of numerous locals.

Local informants disclosed that the marauders descended upon the village around half-past eleven on Saturday night, directly targeting and overpowering the local military security detachment stationed to safeguard the area.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the attackers swept through the settlement in massive numbers, firing rounds indiscriminately to establish dominance before proceeding to plunder commercial storefronts and raid residential compounds.

A local community member who identified himself as Alhaji Aminu Kasuwar Daji detailed the harrowing nature of the assault during a telephone interview with reporters.

“Our calls to Zamfara state and the Federal Government is to come to the aide of Zamfara people generally on this insecurity bedivelling the state.
We really in danger as if the bandits can overpowered military and succeeded in their operation on innocent citizens,” Aminu Kasuwar Daji said.

Providing further context, a former deputy speaker, Honourable Namadi Kasuwar Daji, confirmed via telephone that the violent raid struck his home district while he was away on travel, noting that family members quickly alerted him to the unfolding catastrophe.

“I was told that the bandits have even killed soldiers but I was not told the actual number, again I was told that the bandits after looting shops to do away with foodstuffs, drinks and other properties, have also abducted unspecified number of residents to the bush,” he stated.

Efforts to secure an official response from the Zamfara State Police Command proved difficult as the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yazid Abubakar, initially indicated he lacked immediate details regarding the incident.

Although the police spokesperson promised to gather facts from tactical commanders on the ground and return calls, subsequent follow-up attempts by journalists yielded no official commentary by the time this report was filed.
