To secure the safe recovery of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while travelling to Abuja, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the Intelligence Response Team to be deployed immediately.

Additionally, he gave the squad instructions to put Ojajuni’s safe rescue first.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, reassured the public in a statement issued on Wednesday that the police will use all available resources and expertise to secure Ojajuni’s release.

He said, “The IGP commends the bravery and swift action of these gallant officers who have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. In the same vein, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID Intelligence Response Team to prioritise the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on 17 February 2025 while en route to Abuja.

“The NPF is fully committed to the safe return of Prince Ojajuni and is deploying all necessary resources and expertise to achieve this objective.”

Adejobi urged Nigerians to stop sharing unverified information about the incident on social media.

He said, “However, the police urge members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in social media speculation or sharing unverified information regarding the ongoing rescue efforts. Such activities can inadvertently jeopardise the operation and potentially endanger the victim’s safety.

“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to actively pursue and dismantle all criminal elements operating within our communities, with the ultimate goal of establishing peace and safety.”

Adejobi recounted the police’s February successes, saying that on February 26, 2025, officers in Taraba State raided a suspected criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry-season rice farms, resulting in the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, three Dane guns, a motorcycle, seven rounds of live ammunition and a bow and arrow.

In Oyo State, Adejobi said a swift response by tactical teams and local security outfits led to the rescue of three kidnap victims abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24. 2025.

He added that the operation also resulted in the arrest of one of the kidnappers.
