The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national working committee (NWC) has postponed the south-south zonal congress that was originally scheduled for Saturday.
The PDP spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, said in a statement released Thursday evening that a new date for the south-south congress would be revealed shortly.
The PDP spokesperson said the postponement is “necessitated by the need for further consultation on critical issues relating to the smooth conduct” of the congress in the zone.
“The NWC regrets any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the south-south zonal congress. A new date will be communicated in due course,” the statement reads.

However, Ologunagba said the southeast and northeast congresses will be held on Saturday, February 22, at the party’s zonal headquarters in Enugu and Bauchi states respectively, as earlier scheduled.
The PDP spokesperson asked party members, aspirants, stakeholders, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies to take note of the developments.
