A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has hailed the appointment of Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari, Marafan Sokoto, as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
He described the move as a strategic step that will strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Shinkafi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting Yari with the leadership of the campaign council.
He emphasized that Yari’s extensive political experience spanning his tenure as Governor of Zamfara State, membership in the House of Representatives, and current role as Senator, will be invaluable to the campaign.
Shinkafi recalled Yari’s earlier roles as State Secretary and Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Zamfara State, as well as his involvement in Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura’s 2003 re-election campaign.
Yari also served as National Treasurer of the ANPP and represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011 before becoming Governor of Zamfara State.
As governor, he played a key role in the formation of the APC in Zamfara.
Highlighting Yari’s broad experience across party and government structures, Shinkafi said this background will help in coordinating the campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
“As a distinguished Senator in the 10th Senate, Senator Yari is one of the foremost stakeholders consolidating the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda. With him leading the charge as Director-General, this Campaign Council will be disciplined, laser-focused, and will deliver a historic victory to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and the APC,” Shinkafi stated.
Shinkafi, who is an aspirant for Zamfara North Senatorial District in 2027, is also a patron of the 2023 Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He urged APC members nationwide to rally behind the campaign council in preparation for the 2027 elections.
