Tobi Amusan has sealed her place in the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final after accumulating 28 points, enough to guarantee qualification following a string of consistent performances in this season’s women’s 100m hurdles.
The three-time Diamond League champion will compete in the season-ending championship, scheduled for September 4 and 5, 2026, at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, where she will be chasing a fourth Diamond League title.
Although the qualifying series is still ongoing, Amusan has already booked her place in the final. She currently sits second in the standings with 28 points, four behind American Masai Russell, who leads the table with 32 points.
Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas is third with 19 points, level with Megan Simmonds of Jamaica. Nadine Visser, Ackera Nugent, Alaysha Johnson and Grace Stark occupy the fifth to eighth positions respectively as they continue their push for qualification.
Amusan made history in 2022 by becoming the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships following her victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in Eugene, Oregon. She also won gold in the same event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Her achievements also include three consecutive Diamond League titles (2021, 2022 and 2023), three African Championships titles (2018, 2022 and 2026), and two African Games gold medals (2019 and 2024).
Amusan remains the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles after clocking 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, a performance that still stands as the fastest ever in the event.
