Mohamed Salah has agreed to join Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a two-year contract after leaving Liverpool as a free agent at the end of last season. The Turkish club has confirmed that negotiations are underway, with Salah expected to travel from Egypt to Turkey this week to undergo his medical before completing the move.
The Egyptian superstar attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, Major League Soccer, and other European sides during the summer. He was also linked with Turkish giants Beşiktaş, but the move failed to materialise, paving the way for Trabzonspor to secure one of the biggest signings in the club’s history.
Salah leaves Liverpool as one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous red shirt. Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, he spent nine unforgettable years at Anfield, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists in 442 appearances across all competitions.
During his remarkable spell on Merseyside, the 34-year-old helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield. Individually, he also claimed multiple Premier League Golden Boots, Player of the Season awards and several Player of the Year honours, cementing his place among the club’s all-time greats.
Salah now begins a fresh challenge in Turkey, where Trabzonspor hope his experience, leadership and goalscoring pedigree can help them challenge for domestic honours and make a strong impact in Europe next season.
