Akin Shuga, the leader of a well-known live music ensemble, Akinloye Tofowomo, died at the age of 50.
His family issued a statement on Monday, November 3, 2025, confirming his death.
On October 30, 2025, Akin Shuga passed away in New Brunswick, Canada.
“A revered music icon and custodian of rhythm, culture, and the spirit of performance,” the statement said of the creator of the Shuga Band.
The family added that they will disclose the specifics of the funeral plans when the time comes.
In the meantime, they requested “privacy and quiet reflection at this deeply difficult time”.
