Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former running mate for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, said he left Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), because he had no ideas for Nigeria.
In 2023, Datti served as Obi’s LP presidential running mate.
Prior to joining the NDC, Obi defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the election.

Datti, however, stated that he would not hurt President Bola Tinubu by needlessly endorsing Obi and Atiku Abubakar, the ADC’s presidential candidate.
In an interview on Symfoni TV, Datti said: “I won’t unfairly help promote Baba Atiku and Peter Obi and others just for no good reason because we need to be fair in life, and that’s what I stand for.

“I worked really hard for Peter Obi, but his team doesn’t remember things very well. I told Peter Obi he needs to come up with a plan since he doesn’t have one yet.
“Peter Obi didn’t abandon me; I left because he doesn’t have a plan for Nigeria. Peter Obi knows I stood for him. I still stand by him. It’s sad to see the moves he made. But it is his choice.”
According to reports, more than ten young people who were hurt during the blockade of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi’s convoy in Benue have been admitted to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.
Obi was unable to travel to Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area on Tuesday because thugs ambushed his convoy along the Gboko-Makurdi Motorway.
When the event happened, the former governor of Anambra State was travelling to Yelwata to offer condolences to the victims of the terrorist assault on June 13, 2025.
In the meantime, Obi went on to accuse Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Special Assistant on Youths of organising youths to obstruct his movement and planning the attack.
According to Leadership, an official of the State University Teaching Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Wednesday, confirmed that over 10 wounded youths were brought to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
