Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has disclosed that she dislikes doing road journeys in Nigeria, particularly if they are longer than the distance between Lagos and Ibadan.

The movie diva revealed in a recent interview with VJ Adams that while she enjoys road journeys outside, she prefers to travel by air and sea in Nigeria for security and infrastructure concerns.

She disclosed that her dislike for road trips in Nigeria has significantly affected her social life.

“I prefer water and air transportation. Don’t like road trips. I can do road trips abroad but in Nigeria, no, thank you,” she said.

Bello added, “I can only consider road trips in Nigeria only if the person I am going to see is extremely dear to me. And everybody knows me now, they go, ‘Don’t invite her, she won’t come.’ Once it is farther than Ibadan, count me out.”

International boxer Anthony Joshua has been involved in a fatal car accident.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) first findings, Anthony Joshua’s car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway was caused by high speed and improper passing.

Joshua’s Lexus Jeep collided with a stalled truck on the Sagamu axis of the road near the Sinoma district on Monday, killing two persons.

Joshua was just slightly hurt in the accident, which happened at lunchtime.

According to a statement from the FRSC, Joshua’s jeep “lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre” and “travelled beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor,” which resulted in the collision.

“The primary causes of the crash, being excessive speed and wrongful overtaking, constitute serious traffic violations and remain among the leading causes of fatal road crashes on Nigerian highways,” the statement reads.

The corps added that two dead individuals have been conveyed to Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu.

The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division (MTD) has also been duly notified, and further investigation will be launched into the cause of the accident.
