Despite fulfilling her bail requirements, the Nollywood actress and singer, Angela Okorie, has remained in Suleja prison detention.
A Federal High Court in Abuja granted Angela N5 million in bail on Friday. The surety must be a level 13 civil servant.
Actor Stanley Ontop, Randy Peter, Mama Pee, Omoyele Sowore, and other activists reportedly intervened to gain her release.
Despite meeting her bail condition, the actress remains in prison. The development aroused debate on social media.
But in a post on his Instagram account, actor Stanley Ontop revealed the reason the actress is still detained: her bail condition was processed late on Friday.
While assuring the public that Angela will be released on Monday, Stanley wrote, “Angela Okorie Bail application has been processed, but after we had finished the processing, time has gone.
“So she will be out from Suleja prison by Monday. We have met all her bail conditions, we await Monday for her release.”

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Angela was reportedly taken into custody at her Lagos home by members of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
Journalist and founder of BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, disclosed on Wednesday. While explaining that Angela spent the night at Yaba, Panti police station, before being transported to Abuja very early on Wednesday, Oloketuyi wrote on his Instagram page: “Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja.
“She was put on 6am flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to a cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson.”
The development came exactly a week after Mercy Johnson announced that cyberbullying her and her family won’t be business as usual in 2026.
In June 2025, there was a war of words between actresses Regina Daniels and Angela Okorie on social media.
The social media war started when Angela Okorie took to her Instagram to allege that her archenemy, Mercy Johnson, is sick.
She stated that her spiritual father had told her to forgive the actress, stating that indeed she has done that and moved past their squabbles.
