Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy says he and the late South African rapper AKA settled their feud before his passing.
After Burna Boy promised to “deal” with AKA if they ever met, the two broke up in 2019.
This happened after the South African rapper shared screenshots of hate messages he purportedly received from Nigerian accounts over AFCON quarterfinal match banter, allegedly inciting xenophobic violence against Nigerians in South Africa.
Burna Boy has now revealed that they quashed their beef before the rapper passed on.
In a posthumous birthday message to the late rapper via his Instagram page, Burna Boy, however, regretted that AKA passed away before they could execute some of their plans and collaborations.
Burna Boy wrote, “Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsh*t even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about, we never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do. I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”

AKA was shot dead by a gunman outside a restaurant in Durban on 10 February, 2023.
The trial into his murder is still ongoing.
Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince Zamani, has explained that he still sees late South African rapper AKA in his dreams. This is because there was a misunderstanding to settle before he passed away.
He explained that AKA’s Twitter rants about Nigerians during the 2019 xenophobic violence in South Africa, made him call the Cape Town rapper out on social media in a way that seemed like they were beefing.
Speaking in a recent episode of the G2G Podcast, Ice Prince disclosed that he has asked God for forgiveness for not amending his friendship with AKA before he died.
He revealed that he still sees the South African when praying.
“I wish we got to speak about it [our misunderstanding] because we never. And it hurt me so bad because that’s my friend. AKA wasn’t just an artist that I collaborated with.
“He has been to my house in Lagos a couple of times. That’s my friend. It did hurt me that we never got to settle that misunderstanding.
“But I have prayed about it so many times. I still see him in my prayers. Sometimes, when I’m praying I see him there. So, I know we are at peace. I know he looks out for me as one of my homeboys in heaven,” he expressed.
