Wunmi, the late singer Mohbad’s widow, is prohibited from using their last name, “Aloba,” by his family.
Wunmi was officially barred from using her late husband’s family name while a DNA test was being conducted to determine Liam’s paternity.
This occurred in the midst of Mohbad’s contentious death on September 12, 2023, and the ensuing paternity battle with Wunmi.
After receiving an injection from an auxiliary nurse, Mohbad passed away. After the public outrage, his body was dug up for an autopsy.
A setback to the investigation occurred in May 2025 when pathologists indicated that it was impossible to pinpoint the reason for Mohbad’s death.
However, in a new development, the family head, Omolayo Aloba in an official statement jointly signed with the late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, restricted Wunmi from using the family name.
While arguing that Omowunmi was not legally married to Mohbad, they noted that “For the avoidance of doubt, no statutory or customary marriage was contracted between the late Mohbad and Wunmi Adebanjo, as the required Yoruba traditional rites (payment of bride price) were never completed”.

The family further named Oladayo Ogungbe as their sole legal representative for the DNA case and Mohbad’s estate, while Wahab Shittu will continue to handle all matters with investigative authorities regarding his death.
The statement added that both the child and Wunmi would be included in the estate administration process after the DNA test confirms Liam as Mohbad’s biological son
Foremost Nollywood actor Oyewole Olowomojuore, aka Baba Gebu, has passed on.
Baba Gebu reportedly died on Wednesday evening after a brief illness.
Announcing his passing, popular movie director and actor Kunle Afod, in an Instagram post, described the deceased as a “great legend.”
“It saddens my heart as I announce the passing of our great legend, a great actor who passed away after a brief illness. BABA GEBU, may your soul rest in peace,” Afod wrote.
Reacting to the sad news, actor Yemi Solade wrote, “May GOD forgive his shortcomings, accept and rest his soul in eternal bliss. Amen.”
Actor Akin Olaiya wrote, “Rest in peace, Baba.”
Actor Abiodun Thomas wrote, “Rest on, Pa Olowomojuore, may God continue to bless all that you left behind.”
Sharing a heartbreaking emoji, actress Shola Kosoko wrote, “Rest in peace, Legend.”
