Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a social activist and veteran Nollywood actress, has revealed how her children were threatened with death during the EndSARS pandemic.
The 48-year-old actress claimed the threats were a watershed in her lengthy advocacy journey and made her reevaluate her activism style in an interview with Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds on Sunday.
“I am used to death threats; I have received them many times,” Omotola said.
“But I have never seen anything like what happened during EndSARS. It was intense, my kids started getting death threats. That was when it became real, and when I realised this was no longer just about me.
“When people started coming to my home and workplace looking for me, I knew it was time to think beyond myself. I had to protect others, especially my children,” she said.

Omotola revealed that the experience ultimately pushed her to shift away from street protests toward more strategic, focused advocacy, citing the increasing difficulty of guaranteeing her children’s safety as they grow older.
“I can’t control where they go. Can’t protect them as much. I don’t care for my life, but I do care for them,” she said.
Just last week, Omotola Jalade responded to the rumoured conflict with fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji.
The consensus is that the movie stars did not get along.
In response to the widely held belief, Omotola stated that “people don’t need to be best friends” while clarifying that they were never at odds in an interview on Yanga FM.
While accusing fans of pitching them against each other, Omotola said, “Na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.”
The interviewer further asked: “Was there anything like say una been quarrel wey lasted for twenty years before EJ movie?”
Omotola replied: “People don’t need to be best friends, but we talked. Like behind film, we dey talk normally. You know the same thing that they do with all these music stars, na we dem take start all those things that time. Na we be the practice that time.
You know all this Wizkid, Davido now that they have taken to different level, na we be the first one now. Really, na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.
“We were young, everybody dey do her own thing now.byou know how the industry is. You know, them go pitch you against this person, talk say na this one be the hottest girl, na that one be the hottest girl. So, those kind tension go dey normally, but people they read am as other things.”
