Dutch side Ajax have reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported that the buy option is not mandatory, but if Ajax decide to activate the clause at the end of the loan spell, they will pay €22 million for the Nigerian forward.
He also revealed that Arokodare turned down several offers from clubs in Turkey and Italy in order to complete his move to the Eredivisie side.
“Club-to-club agreement done on loan with salary covered and buy option clause not mandatory worth €22m if triggered.
“Tolu rejected proposals from Turkey and Italy to join Ajax as Dutch club will cover full salary and also pay a loan fee.”
The agreement comes just days after Wolves journalist Nathan Judah claimed Arokodare refused to leave the club’s training pitch after being told by new head coach Cesar Peixoto that he was no longer part of the first-team plans and was not expected to train with the senior squad.
However, the Super Eagles striker swiftly dismissed the reports on his Instagram page, saying he was shocked by the claims circulating on social media. Arokodare insisted he remains under contract with Wolves, has always conducted himself professionally, and will continue to do so despite the ongoing transfer speculation.
Arokodare endured a difficult debut campaign after joining Wolves from Belgian side Genk in the summer of 2025. The 25-year-old struggled to make the desired impact, scoring six goals in 38 appearances across all competitions for the Molineux club, with only three goals coming in 33 Premier League matches as Wolves suffered relegation from the top flight.
