Arsenal and Chelsea returned to winning ways following the three-week FIFA international break. Arsenal edged Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium, while Chelsea demolished Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners returned to winning ways after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break. Bruno Guimaraes scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute to help Arsenal claim all three points at home.
Leeds, who had been resilient, took the lead in the 55th minute. Calafiori responded by levelling the score at 1-1 in the 62nd minute before Guimaraes delivered the decisive moment.
As expected, the Gunners had the better of the statistics, controlling more possession, posing a greater goal threat and creating better chances than their visitors.
With the win, Arsenal have now moved level on 15 points with league leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand and will face Liverpool tomorrow.
Chelsea returned with an emphatic Victory , thrashing Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues took control early, with Jordan Henderson opening the scoring in the second minute before Morgan Rogers doubled their lead a minute later.
Chelsea extended their advantage just after the restart when Joao Pedro scored in the 46th minute. Bournemouth responded through Evanilson in the 51st minute, but Pedro restored Chelsea’s three-goal cushion with his second goal of the match in the 67th minute.
Henderson completed the scoring in the 70th minute to seal an impressive 5-1 victory for Chelsea.
Both sides recorded 50 per cent possession, while Chelsea registered 10 shots compared to Bournemouth’s nine.
The victory pushes the Blues to a 5th spot after 10 points accumulated while Bournemouth are just a point above the relegation zone
