Nigeria signed off from the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as Africa’s highest-performing nation, finishing with 24 medals made up of 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze.
The country’s 10 gold medals proved enough to place it above every other African nation on the final medal table despite South Africa winning more medals overall. South Africa finished with 28 medals, seven gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze, to end the Games as Africa’s second-best team.
Kenya claimed third on the continent with 12 medals, comprising three gold, four silver and five bronze. Mauritius followed with four medals (one gold, two silver and one bronze), while Cameroon completed the top five with five medals, one gold, one silver and three bronze.
Uganda and Namibia each won three medals, Ghana finished with two, while Lesotho and Zambia also left Glasgow with two medals apiece.
With the Games now concluded, Nigeria’s medal haul stands as the best by any African nation at Glasgow 2026, underlining another successful outing for Team Nigeria on the Commonwealth stage.
