Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved payment for the first phase of the medical treatment of veteran actress Ngozi Nwosu.
The intervention followed the actress’s public appeal for financial assistance to undergo three urgent surgeries.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, announced the development in a post on X.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” he wrote.
Justice noted that the government’s support covered only a portion of the required expenses and urged Nigerians to continue donating to the actress.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible,” he said.
He also thanked Otti on behalf of the creative industry.
“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir,” he added.
In a previous post, Nwosu, in an emotional Instagram video, said she had been hospitalised for three weeks and needed N30 million for three surgeries.

“My people, my fans and my family… I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.
“I need your help. Don’t let me die… I’m going through a lot, in pain.”
The actress asked those willing to support her treatment to contact her management.
In March 2026, Nigerian gospel singer Moses Bliss described how his wife, Marie Bliss, struggled with an unidentified illness.
During his ministration at the Mountain Experience programme in Abuja, Moses revealed that Marie’s illness prevented her from breathing.
The singer described how the illness, which was not recognised despite numerous tests, caused breathing difficulties and physical anguish while attesting to the power of God.
He went on to say that prayers were used to overcome the unidentified sickness.
