Bella Shmurda, a Nigerian singer, has disclosed that he wrote his popular song Cash App specifically for online scammers, or “Yahoo boys.”
Speaking about the song’s motivation in a recent interview with Clout Africa, Shmurda revealed that he chose to release a song that inspires and exposes the challenges faced by Yahoo lads after realizing how difficult it was to commit online fraud.
The host asked: “What inspired Cash App? Were you doing Yahoo?”

Shmurda replied: “It is Yahoo in the sense that they [Yahoo boys] have to dance. These people that are hustling, you have to make them happy. Because internet fraud is stressful. It has a lot of challenges.
“The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it. It is natural, it just comes. It is God-given. So, Cash App is divine.”
Bella Shmurda released Cash App, which featured rappers Zlatan and Lincoln, in 2020. The song became an instant hit in Nigeria and other African countries.

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, aka 2Baba, has spoken publicly for the first time since the scandal surrounding him and his wife and Edo State legislator Natasha Osawaru began circulating online.
The musician wrote, “Help me,” in a brief message posted on his Instagram Story on Wednesday.
This is coming a few hours after his brother, Hyacinth Idibia, expressed worry in an Instagram post in which he matched his message with lyrics from one of 2face’s songs.
Hyacinth wrote,
“You’ve always been ahead, always been brilliant. Lyrics meant to inspire, but somehow it’s unfolding in real time… Painful reality. Allow us to save you. You’ve been suffering for too long. God knows”
The development follows weeks of public drama between 2Baba and Osawaru.
The tension reportedly began in the United Kingdom, where the couple had a heated exchange that allegedly led to police intervention and the singer’s brief arrest.
The issue resurfaced during an Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, during which the two were seen arguing on camera.
The incidents have fuelled speculation about a possible crisis in the marriage, with fans expressing worry about the singer’s well-being.
