Former Big Brother Naija winner, Mercy Eke, has opened up about her dating experiences and how life has been since she became a star in Africa’s biggest reality show.
Mercy Lambo, as she is famously called on social media, bore her heart in the latest episode of Toke Moments with Toke Makinwa.
In the podcast, the reality star cited financial imbalance as a recurring issue despite her desire to build a stable future.

Regretting going for the show, she said, “I regret going to Big Brother even though I love the benefits that come from it. I dey fall in love like mumu, now I said to myself that I want to marry, I want to marry but it’s not easy.
“I have dated guys that I have given a lot of money to, not one not two, because they don’t have”, she said.

Mercy Eke also explained that she doesn’t intend to be a cook every day for her husband and wouldn’t want to set unrealistic expectations.
“I can’t marry or date a man who wants me to cook for him regularly. I only cook once in a while when I am in the mood. If you want fresh food every day, hire a chef.
“It can’t be me. Love can never make me cook for a man every day. I’m not the woman for that kind of man. Other women out there will gladly do that, which is fine.
“That is why it’s important to marry ‘who has what you are looking for’.
“So, if you marry me and you are thinking you don’t eat overnight food, it’s not me. I can’t cook every day,” she stated.
In November 2025, Mercy Eke stated that she wouldn’t mind having children out of wedlock.
The Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner stated in an interview stated that even though she is not looking forward to having a child, she would keep it if she got pregnant before getting married.
Eke stated that she was confident that becoming pregnant outside of marriage would not have an impact on her, as the stigma associated with single mothers is limited to low-income women.
