President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Board, as part of 26 new appointments across 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, announced in a statement issued on Monday by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga in Abuja, take immediate effect and form part of the administration’s latest leadership appointments to key government institutions.
Alongside Fayose’s appointment, President Tinubu named Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, while approving appointments into several strategic federal agencies.
According to the Presidency, Fayose will lead the REA Board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three serving executive directors will complete the board.

The statement also confirmed that the President approved eight additional appointments into the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was appointed Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde will serve as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.
Other members appointed into the commission include Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who previously served as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary.
In addition, Dr Abuh Mohammed was appointed Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr Akinola Odeyemi emerged as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET).
President Tinubu also named Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Similarly, Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal.
The President also approved the constitution of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission Board, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
The statement further announced the appointment of Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja.
Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) and will assume his new position with immediate effect.
