On Wednesday, a sizeable crowd from Nigeria’s entertainment sector attended the service of songs for late actor Alexx Ekubo.
After fighting kidney cancer, Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026
As requested by the Ekubo family, coworkers, friends, and dignitaries flocked to The Monarch Event Centre for the wedding, all dressed in white.
Attendees included Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Akpotha, Ebele Okaro, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, Nkechi Blessing, Stan Nze, Blessing Obasi, Ik Ogbonna, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, singer Chike, and socialite Cubana Chief Priest.

In addition to Pastor Jerry Eze, Nathaniel Bassey, and Kaestrings, gospel ministers Peterson Okopi and Ebuka Songs conducted worship that evening.
On the late actor’s Instagram profile, the Ekubo family had previously posted an obituary and asked people to remember them in prayer.

Ekubo’s funeral ceremonies began on Wednesday with a song service.
On June 17, the funeral relocates to Abia State for a wake, and on June 18, the burial is planned.
The devastating loss is believed to have left family, friends, and loved ones utterly saddened.
The late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo’s last moments have been discussed by well-known Nigerian comedian AY Makun, better known by his stage name AY.
Comedian AY, who was at the hospital, shared on Instagram that Alex was grinning when he took his final breath.
