Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to extend his contract, which comes to an end at the conclusion of the 2026/27 season, as per BBC Sport.
All parties have arrived at an agreement that will extend the Spaniard’s stay to ten years at the club, with no official number of months agreed or revealed yet.
According to BBC Sport, the new contract will also include an increase in his current salary of £10m per year, plus an additional £5m in bonuses.
Speaking about his contract talks, Arteta said last week: “They [the fans] don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with.”
Arteta joined Arsenal in December 2019, succeeding Freddie Ljungberg, who served as interim manager when Unai Emery was sacked. Emery succeeded Arsène Wenger in 2018 after the French manager ended his 22-year reign with the club.
Since joining the Gunners, Arteta has built a structure and a formidable team that ended Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the league title. He guided the team to the 2025/26 Premier League title.
Under Arteta, Arsenal have also won the FA Cup in 2019/20, the Community Shield in 2020, and the Community Shield in 2023, before winning the Premier League in 2025/26. Arsenal’s official records confirm the 2020 FA Cup and Community Shield successes, while the club’s 2025/26 season marked their return to the top of English football after 22 years.
