Barcelona fans were agog with celebration after witnessing Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United loanee, score against Newcastle. Hansi Flick was full of admiration for the player.
After the match, the German coach explained how he made it apparent to Deco that the England star was the guy he truly wanted. Rashford was brought in over the summer on a season-long loan.
“I told Deco this summer: ‘Please get me a player like Marcus Rashford…! Please!” he told reporters.
“I’m very happy to have him here. Rashford was an opportunity in the transfer market and we had to take it. I’m glad we did.

“I spoke to him and said: ‘I need you in my team.’ This is a good step for Rashford. It will give him a lot of confidence.”
After the game, Rashford acknowledged that he hopes for many more goals as he attempts to create an impression and possibly secure a permanent transfer. His double was his first competitive goal for Barcelona.

Earlier, we reported that Barcelona’s team for Thursday’s Champions League encounter against Newcastle United does not include winger Lamine Yamal.
After Barcelona manager Hansi Flick questioned Yamal’s playing time for Spain during the international break, the 18-year-old missed his team’s victory over Valencia on Sunday due to a groin injury.
On September 4, Yamal played 79 minutes in a 3-0 victory in Bulgaria, and three days later, he played 73 minutes in a 6-0 triumph in Turkey
Barcelona defeated Valencia 6-0 without him, and they haven’t included the forward in their roster for the Champions League opener at St. James’ Park this season.
Additionally, missing are Spain midfielder Gavi (knee) and left-back Alejandro Balde (hamstring).
Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for the Netherlands, is available for the Newcastle encounter but missed the Valencia game after playing for his country.
Before losing to Inter Milan, Barcelona advanced to the Champions League semifinals and won La Liga the previous season.
