A video of Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, also known as Phyna, a former housemate of BBNaija, partying at a nightclub just weeks after the untimely death of her younger sister Ruth Otabor, has gone viral online, evoking conflicting opinions.
The Otabor family received widespread sympathy after Ruth purportedly perished in an accident in Edo State involving a truck owned by billionaire Aliko Dangote’s business.
A video of Phyna dancing and mingling with pals at an upscale nightclub in Abuja surfaced shortly after Ruth’s funeral. Debates about her behaviour, attire, and the people she hung out with that evening erupted after the video swiftly went viral.

Phyna looked upbeat and happy in the video, as if she was having fun in spite of the recent family tragedy.
The revelation happened soon after the reality star said that her family had supposedly received ₦20 million in compensation from Dangote’s team for the deadly accident.

Others defended her, pointing out that sorrow is a personal experience and that people deal with loss in different ways, while others criticised the timing of her public presence.
Toluwani Odukoya, associate pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, talked about her experience of being separated from her husband, which she said had a big impact on her life.
Toluwani disclosed in a recent interview with Truthtable that she is separated because of events outside of her control, calling the situation “like a death.”
The 40-year-old stressed that neither party’s failure nor culpability is always implied by separation.
“I’ll say I’m separated. Most of you don’t know I’m separated and that’s actually defined or has shaped my life. It was circumstances beyond my control,” she said.
She praised her ex-husband, calling him a “great man,”. The woman of God further believes that their marriage wasn’t ordained by God, making it difficult to last.
“My ex-husband is a great man… but if God doesn’t ordain you guys to be together and you force-fit yourselves, the likelihood of staying together is very low,” she explained.
She claimed that a slew of family catastrophes over the last few years has made it very difficult for her.
She lost her father, Senior Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who died on August 7, 2023, as well as her stepmother and her father’s twin sister.
